Planning Workshops

Toscano Management Consulting conducts Planning Workshops using Interactive Planning methodologies. In these Workshops the participants work together to analyze a specific problem and develop a solution by consensus. The use of Interactive Planning allows the full involvement of the participants, maximizing group learning and their commitment to implement the plans developed. The Workshops are results-oriented and produce specific action plans that specify the activities and resources required.

The agenda for the Workshop is developed according to the nature of the problem to be solved and the requirements of the client. Workshops are usually one or two days long. A typical agenda is:

  • Definition of the problem to be addressed
  • Identification of the component elements of the problem using the Metaplan methodology
  • Definition of the interrelationships of these elements using the Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) methodology
  • Development of the solution
  • Formulation of the required action plans

The ISM methodology is described in another page of this site. The Metaplan methodology is a highly effective Interactive Planning technique. The participants, working individually, write what they think are the component elements of the problem in 5 x 8 cards. Each participant then presents his cards to the group as a whole. When all the cards have been presented they are discussed and analyzed by the group. The group then reaches a consensus on the cards that are related and need to be combined to identify the key components of the problem. Those components are prioritized and action plans to address them are formulated.-.
